The students from the International Liberal Arts Department gathered for the finals of the E-1 Grand-prix held on February 15. The students were chosen based on a preliminary round of testing from all grade levels. The top 4 students, 3rd-year Maya Yamashita, 3rd-year Miyuki Hamano, 2nd-year Airi Mishima, and 2nd-year Sora Takaoka were chosen as the department’s best in English and presented and discussed the theme: “If you study abroad, where would you like to go?” During the judging intermission, 2nd-year study abroad student to Sydney, Australia, Yuji Baba gave a presentation on his overseas research of peoples’ awareness of Japan and Okayama. The event was exciting and interesting with Maya Yamashita named E-1 Champion for her presentation on Malta. Second prize went to Miyuki Hamano – Canada, with consolation prizes going to Airi Mishima – the United States and Sora Takaoka – the Philippines.

国際教養学部では、去る2月15日に、学部が主催するE1グランプリの決勝戦が行われました。3年生の山下真弥さん、同じく3年生の浜野未雪さん、2年生の三島愛理さん、同じく2年生の高岡空君の4名が、予選の筆記試験で高得点を得て選抜された。決勝戦では、「海外留学をするなら、どこに行きたいですか？」をテーマに各自のスピーチと4人での協議が行われました。審査結果の待ち時間に、セメスター留学の制度を利用して、オーストラリアで3ヶ月間英語を学んできた2年生の馬場雄次君が「オーストラリア人の日本と岡山に対する意識」についてプレゼンテーションを行いました。審査の結果は、マルタへの留学について語った山下さんが優勝、カナダ留学の浜野さんが準優勝。そして米国留学の三島さんとフィリピン留学の高岡君がそれぞれ優秀賞を手にしました。
